Easy ways to save energy in your home:
1) Find better ways to heat and cool your home.
*Use ceiling fans instead of air conditioning
*Replace air filters in air conditioners and heaters
*Install a programmable thermostat
2) Use Daylighting! Daylighting is the practice of using natural light to heat & cool your home. Allow the sun to come in during the day to heat your home in the winter. Open your winters during cool summer nights. In the morning, close the winters and blinds, holding the cool air inside
3) Cook Smarter. Use lids for faster heating time; Convection ovens use less energy then conventional. Microwaves use 80% less energy than conventional ovens; use top rack in the oven as it will cook faster and is hotter.
4) Change the way you do the laundry. Clean the lint trap every time; wait till you have a full load of clothing; avoid high temperature settings, Air dry clothing whenever possible.
